Nowadays, in a society of full-time workers and full-time students, travelling is a way to pull the plug. When summer comes, all of us cannot wait to leave and spend a time far away. But not everybody has the same view. Of course, travelling is not free and it can be very expensive. In fact, some people wonder why spending so much money in flights and hotels, when they could invest in a new car, for example. A trip can last a week and then it is over; moreover, you will come back empty-handed. Instead, a new car would be very useful and you will probably drive it for many years. Therefore, why should people invest in travels rather than in material things? “So that you can come back”, as Terry Pratchett said. Travelling is neither a waste of time nor a waste of money. It is the nourishment of our heart and our mind. In September I spent two weeks in Berlin in an Erasmus project. It was not just a holiday, of course: we worked and learned new skills, but also visited interesting places and museums. Personally, it was one of the best experiences of my life. When I left, I was full of doubts and fears, but when I came back, I was not the same person. Those two weeks gave me vitality and new knowledges, which I would have missed if I stayed home. So, even if you cannot touch experiences, it does not mean they are meaningless. In conclusion, the quotation of T.
