The work in which Joyce introduces the concept of epiphany is entitled Dubliners. The work is composed of 15 stories, in each story he describes the inner universe of a city dweller thanks to the narration of everyday stories. In this context, the Epiphany, or the sudden spiritual revelation determined by a gesture, an object or a banal situation, is born, through which the character in question finally manages to understand the deeper meaning of existence. This leads the protagonist to go beyond the appearance of things, feeling for the first time the true meaning of life. Joyce renders Epiphany through the technique of the Flow of consciousness, that is, the free representation of the characters' thoughts. At these revelatory moments the reader’s attention focuses on the real meaning of the narrative. The intention of Joyce was to write a chapter of the moral history of his coutry and he chose Dublin for the scene because that city seemed to him the centre of paralysis. He have tried ti present it under four of its aspects: childhood, adolescence ,maturity and public life. the story are arranged in this order.
