NEW YORK New York is bustling city and its skyline, despite the 11th September terrorist attack, is one of the most famous in the world Much of the city is built on three islands (Manhattan, Staten Island and Long Island), but most of the things that tourists want to see when they go to New York are located in Manhattan This long island is bordered on the east by the East River and on the west by the Hudson River TOP 10 ATTRACTIONS IN NEW YORKStatue of Liberty It was a gift from France as a recognition of the friendship established between the two countries during the French Revolution and has become one of the most universal symbols of freedom in the world It has guarded the entrance to New York harbour since 1886 Empire State Building This 102-story skyscraper, designed in the distinctive Art Deco style, offers outstanding views of the city On the 86th floor there is both an outdoor and indoor observation deck Times Square & Broadway This is the largest theatre district in the world, home to hundreds of shows Times Square is not a proper square but rather a triangle or a mere intersection of major streets It got its name from the New York Times which had its premises there Rockefeller Center This is a privately-owned complex of 19 commercial buildings which stands within walking distance of Central Park and boasts some of the city's finest Art Deco architecture The buildings are connected by the so-called Concourse, a network of shops, restaurants and cafes, directly accessed from the Rockefeller underground station You can enjoy great views of the city's spectacular skyline at the Top of the Rock, where there are three observation decks Central Park It is known by many New Yorkers as the "lungs of the city", a great place where to escape from the hustle and bustle of these hectic city, relax or do sports and activities Metropolitan museum of art, that is a truly gigantic museum with tall columns and windows, immense stairways and fountains It hosts words from every part of the world spanning from the Stone Age to the 20th century Guggenheim Museum The building is a masterpiece of modern architecture, designed by Wright It houses one of the most renowned permanent collections of modern and contemporary art, including works by Picasso, Kandinskij, Van Gogh etc.
