REVIEW- Luca Angelo Lauri Alice's adventures in Wonderland Alice in Wonderland is a very famous novel from the British Victorian author Lewis Carroll. Translated in a great number of languages, also various film and cartoon adaptations of this story are available on the market. Bored on a hot afternoon, Alice falls asleep in a garden and she starts to dream of a magic world she enters following a humanized rabbit in his hole. Once there, she experiences various uncommon adventures such as a mad tea party hold by a crazy March hare and an insane Hatter and after having nonsensical conversations with weird characters, she wakes up in the real world. The great strength of this book, and what makes it different form other popular fairytales and fables, is the innovative uses Carroll made of language and word usage so as to provide various hidden morals. As far as I’m concerned every adult should have a closer look at this fairytale in order to see how the Wonderland Alice enters is similar to our real one and the unconventional characters who live there are nothing but a cryptic stereotype of different human types. I mean, the Red Queen herself represents the embodiment of human power and, if you come to think of it, she could be seen as a mockery of Queen Victoria. To put it in a nutshell, this story is not to be intended just as stuff for children. In fact, I advise readers to get a copy of this book so as to enjoy the typically British humorous way Carroll exploits to provide a description of how society and relationships among men work!
