He saves Scotland and the Scottish King Duncan from the army of Norway. After the battle Macbeth and his friend Banquo meet three witches. The witches tell Macbeth that he will first became the Thane of Cawdor, and then king. They tell Banquo that his children's children will be Kings. Macbeth begins to dream of ambition. He realises that he would like to be king, but he is afraid. Lady Macbeth encourages her husband to be ambitious. It is she who plans to murder Duncan when he comes to stay at the castle. Duncan's sons run away from Scotland. Everybody think that Duncan's sons have killed their father. So they choose as new king Macbeth. He remembers that the witches have said that Banquo's family will become kings. He decide to murder Banquo. After the murder he saw Banquo's ghost. Macbeth goes again to the witches. They tell him to be careful of Macduff, one of the thane of Scotland. They also tell him that no man born of a woman can kill him, and he will never be defeated until Birnam Wood comes to Dunsinane Hill. Macbeth' men kill lady Macduff and her children. Duncan's son, Malcolm, persuades Macduff to fight against Macbeth. During the battle he realises that Macduff is the man not born of a woman, because he was taken early from her mother womb, and he sees Birman Wood come to Dunsinane Hill. Macbeth decides to fight rather than be takne prisoner by Macduff.
