The biggest state is Alaska while the smallest one is Rhode Island. This state isn’t an island, the only state in the USA that is really an island is Hawaii. Symbols The American flag colours are red, blu and white. The 13 stripes rapresent the colonies which became the first 13 states, while the 50 stars rapresent the states. The national emblem of the USA is the bald eagle since 1782. It rapresents freedom. The capital Washington DC is the USA’s capital, and it’s a separate district. DC stands for ‘’District of Columbia’’. Political system The USA is a constitutional republic with a president elected every four years, that lives in the White House. The US Parliament is separated in the Senate and the House of Representatives, and it meets and makes national laws in a building in Washington DC. The USA follow a federal system so different states sometimes have different laws.
