DORIAN’S DEATH Dorian was convinced that with his relationship with Hetty Merton, that led him to a more human and sensible part of his personality, he has finally redeemed his immoral behavior and that the portrait has returned to his original form. But when he uncovered the portrait he could see no change at all or even worse than before: in the eyes there was a look of cunning and the red dew on the hand seemed more bright. Deep down he knew that there was nothing he could do to cleanse himself till he would confess his own sins but he wasn’t willing to lose all this for something that seemed so little to him: the murder of Basil Hallward. The only thing that still connected him to the murder was the potrait so he decided to destroy it: he took the same knife whit which he killed Hallward and stabbed the picture. There was a scream and a crash that woke up the servants who called a policeman. The man got on the roof and dropped down on the balcony. When he entered the room he found a beautiful portrait hanged on the wall and Dorian’s body laying on the ground with a knife in his heart and with a wrinkled face.
