A teaching - learning activity based on a fable by Aesop COUNTRY MOUSE AND THE TOWN MOUSE THE Realized by Sara Gualteroni - 1020157 Elena Maria Donizetti - 44742 Marina Bonfanti - 39133 TEACHING - LEARNING ACTIVITY: ADRESSES Primary school – Pupils attending Year 2. - Communicative Approach: importance to speaking drills and question-and-answer interactions. - Psycological Approach: importance to the relational dynamics of the class and the psycological condition of each student. INTEGRATED APPROACH METHOD 3Ps method : Presentation, Practice and Production. A. PRESENTATION: 1.During a circle time children listen to the teacher who reads the book showing them the pictures of the story and highlighting with the intonation the structure "Do you like…?"/"I like..." 2. Children are taught the vocabulary of home and rooms thanks to a video, for example one like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOSJZbHoiY8 3. After watching the video, children can create their own flashcards about home, rooms and furniture (window, door, shelf, bed, etc.) and with them they can play memory game, to memorize better the vocabulary. LET'S START: THE ACTIVITY! 4. Syntetic Phonics: th/th hard The students are invited to find the words which start with digraph “th” in the text, and then they can watch a video to understand better the different pronunciation of th/th: - "th" - https://youtu.be/25HeM_ppYDk - "th" hard - https://youtu.be/Xv1npxE0Vq0 5. Children can put the sound of the phoneme and a gesture together in order to improve the memorization. About the gesture, they can choose it starting by the story, for example: -“th” (es. "think"): The town cat which hisses. - “th hard” (es. "that"): The country wasp which buzzes 6. Children can try to underline the sound "th" and "th" hard with different colours in the words already found in the text. B. PRACTICE 7. Children can watch a video which tells the story again and which focuses on the pattern “Do you like”…? “I like/ “I don’t like”, “I think I like… best” like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hDKKZrVKm4 8. The teacher gives children a paperwork which shows them what the two mice like. In a second one they can write themselves what they like or not.
