Government tips for a responsible and safe tourism By making a small changes in the way we travel, we can all make a difference and ensure that the destination we love will be here for the future generations to enjoy. Follow our tips to become a responsible tourist: 1) Buy Locally: Buying locally made souvenirs and eating and drinking at local cafes and restaurants are great ways to discover new culture and new lifestyle for enjoy your holiday. 2) Respect the local cultures and traditions: dress and act appropriately for the place that you are visiting, doing a little research before you go or ask for advice. 3) Get closer to the country you’re visiting by booking excursions with local suppliers and tour guide: it will enrich your experience and a little help to support local economy. 4) Hire a car only if you have to: it’s much more environmentally friendly to use public transport, cycle or walk to explore the place you are visiting. 5) Please do not step on, touch or remove any coral: it is important to protect and preserve coral reefs. 6) Please don’t buy any products made from endangered wild animals and plants: including corals, shells, starfish, horns, teeth and animal skin. 4. Currencies and Money Currency is a type of money currently in use in a particular country. There are many different countries and almost many currencies. A few have a specials symbols to represent them, however other lack a symbol and use the first letter of currency name for identification. Moreover, some countries have the same currency name (Singapore dollar, Us dollar ecc). Currency codes are used in emails and in the news in exchange rate displays at the bureau de change, on airline and international train tickets, so it’s vital to know them when you work in the tourism sector. National Identity Cards establish a person’s identity within a country. However, an identity card can be used as a travel document instead of a passport by EU citzen inside the European Union. Health Documents include vaccination certificate and medical treatments prescription. Some country mainly in tropical region, require visitors to provide vaccination certificate for diseases such a tetanus, tuberculosis hepatitis, typhoid, yellow fever or evidence of malaria. This because these diseases are present in the county to be visited and is a high risk of visitors catching them.
