TEXT ABOUT ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF TRAVELLING BY TRAIN OR BY CAR. If you want to travel, there are a lot of means of transportation you can use, for example car, train, airplane, boat, coach and more over. They have different characteristics, pros and cons. I think that train and car are two of the most used means of transportation in the world. They have different advantages and disadvantages: look at them. First travelling by train has many pros, for example: it’s fast, you can travel with all the weather conditions, you don’t have to do the security check like for flights, it doesn’t cost a lot and you arrive in the centre of the town. In addition, if you have to go to the toilets or you want to eat something, you don’t have to stop because on the train there are toilets and also you can buy something to eat on board. If the journey is long, you can sleep in the bunks, which are very comfortable. On the other hand, there are also cons, for example: you travel with people you don’t know, you have to follow the timetables of the train, you have to buy the tickets a lot of time in advance if you don’t want to stand up for all the journey and you can’t take a lot of baggage. Next, a lot of time you have to change the train because certain trains don’t go directly from a city to another and sometimes there can be strike of the means of transportation or your train can be cancelled. Also travelling by car has different advantages and disadvantages. The advantages are that you are independent, which means that you don’t have to follow any timetables, you can stop wherever you want and whenever you want and in the car you can do what you want (for example you can sing, read, sleep, listen to music….) because most of time you travel with people you know. In addition, you don’t have to buy tickets in advance and it’s advantageous and cheaper if more people want to go to the same place. Despite this, there are also disadvantages. For example, if you want to stand up or you have to go to the toilets, you have to stop in a service station; in certain weather conditions, travelling on the roads can be dangerous (when it snows or when there’s fog) and if you travel in the mountains certain people can fell sick for the bends. Next, in certain towns it’s very difficult to find a parking in the centre and in the motorways or in the centre of the towns there can be a lot of traffic. The driver must always keep attention to the street and follow the traffic rules even if he’s tired and the exhaust gas of the cars is the cause of the pollution of the air. In conclusion I would say that every means of transportation has his pros and cons and it’s important to choose the mean that best satisfies our needs in specific situations.
