During his life he got interested in art and literature, developing new themes concerning freedom, imagination, innocence and experience. In his works he used a simple language so that lower class could understand too. His most famous works are “ Songs of Innocence” and “ Song of experience”. He had a specific vision of life which consisted in “ complementary opposites”. He thought that the possibility of progress was led to these complementary opposites such as good and evil or cruelty and kindness. The Garden of Love is taken from Blake's collection “ Songs of Experience” written after the outbreak of the french revolution. In this collection Blake imagines a bard who questions the themes of the previous collection. In addition to that its inhabitants are priests with their restrictive practices. layout The poem has 3 stanzas of 4 lines each, so 3 guatrains
