He also learned Italian by studying Dante and started to read the works of the French Symbolists. ● Eliot’s poetry is modernist: His masterpiece is The Waste Land, a long poem which was published in 1922. Later he published The Hollow Men, a sequel to The Waste Land. ● When Eliot converted to Anglicanism he found his answers ● Later he received the Nobel Prize for Literature. Works: Eliot's work can be divided into two different periods: before and after the conversion to Anglicanism ● The works of the first period are all characterised by a pessimistic vision of the world.
