Confronto tra l’età Vittoriana e i giorni nostri Between the Victorian age and the age of today there are many discrepancies. I cannot imagine that women in the Victorian age could not work and had to stay at home to take care of the children and had to have food ready as soon as the husband returned from work. Today almost all women have a job and the possibility of finding it but are often paid less than men and treated differently, an aspect very similar to the gender difference in the Victorian age. Today there is no longer a division into social classes. In the Victorian age, there were three classes: the upper class who could afford not to work, the developing middle class and finally the lower class with large families and consequently the father's earnings were not enough to live on and often the children helped the family by going to work. Another aspect of the Victorian age very similar to the present day concerns the medical field. Medicine is making many strides, but it is becoming increasingly expensive. The state has made an institution called ASUR but that doesn't actually work as it should: waiting lists are very long and often last one or more years. Only those who can afford it are able to cure themselves in time without having to wait so long. In conclusion, modern society has clearly evolved compared to the Victorian one. It is important to say that the Victorian period promoted decisive changes that provided society with some of the advantages that we have nowadays.
