The victorian era, named after queen victoria's reign from 1837 to 1901, was a time of significant political, social, and religious change in britain. During this period, the country underwent a gradual democratization process, with the middle class emerging as the main beneficiaries of industrial and scientific progress. However, the working class faced poverty and injustice, and there were issues with education, health, and living conditions. An overview of key events, political figures, and social movements during the victorian era, including the chartist movement, the trade union movement, the reform bills, and the irish question.
