They are free to trade and transport goods, services and capital through EU borders, with no restrictions or duty-fees. RIGHTS OF FREE MOVEMENT RIGHTS AND DUTIES OF THE CITIZENS Citizenship of the EU also confers the right to consular protection by embassies of other EU member states. EU citizens have the right to address the European Parliament and EU agencies directly in their own language. POLITICAL RIGHTS They also have the right to vote and run as a candidate for the elections of the country they live in, for European elections and European Citizens' Initiative. EXERCISING OUR RIGHTS One of the biggest EU problem is that, with its difficult legislation, citizens are often left in the dark. They rarely are completely aware of the ongoing matters and nor they know their full rights. The mission of the EU Rights Clinic is to help EU citizens and their family members to enforce their European rights. A team of students and lawyers cooperate in order to inform and properly spread all the knowledge citizens need. EU citizens can also call upon the EUROPEAN OMBUDSMAN to investigate a European institution whenever he suspects maladministration such as unfairness, discrimination, abuse of power and so on. People may feel different degrees of attachment to their town or village, to their region, to their country or to Europe.
