William shakespeare Shakespeare’s works have as their themes: universal power, love , ambition, war and death. These themes are represented by characters from different social classes. Shakespeare experiences several dramatic works, the plot includes songs and dances, have come to us in a standard form, divided into 5 acts. Shakespeare never used the press to publish his works. None of the manuscripts survived, only two former actors friends of Shakespeare decided to publish a collection of his works in the "first sheet". His most famous works are: Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth. The story of Romeo and Juliet begins with Romeo. He goes to a masquerade ball and falls in love with the Capuleti’s daughter, Juliet. After the dance, Romeo enters the garden of the Capuleti, even Juliet confesses that she has fallen in love with him. They decide to marry in secret (families are enemies). The same day of the wedding, fortunately, a battle follows, in which a friend of Romeo is killed. Romeo after killing him is kicked out of Verona for punishment. Juliet’s father wants Juliet to marry Count Paris and not Romeo. Juliet goes to the friar Lorenzo who suggests that she drink a potion that will make her look dead for 42 hours, and then Romeo will take her away. At the end, the friar’s message fails to reach Romeo, so when Romeo receives news of Juliet’s death, he kills himself with poison. When Juliet wakes up, she sees Romeo dead and decides to kill herself. As regards the themes, the author puts the love of Romeo and Juliet in contrast to other love ideas of other characters. For example, for Juliet’s dad, love is an economic pact between two families. For the servant of Juliet it is something physical that corresponds to the senses. Shakespeare gives freedom of choice to choose their fate, and that’s what makes tragedy modern. Another theme is destiny: destiny will lead their love to a premature end, despite trying to escape the cycle of hatred that accompanies them. The language, in dramatic technique, Romeo and Juliet play with the expectations of the audience. The language used is often lyrical, the initial speech of Romeo is poetic, describes Juliet using the conventions of courtly love and neoplatonism.
