The sun slowly dissapeared behind the huge tower of Ironspire, the structure of which stretched hundreds of feet into the air, it’s tip flying high in the clouds . Below the enourmous shadow lay the bustling city of Alnwick which provided it’s rulers with protection, food and knowledge and in return they commanded the city and the lands around it with a fair hand. The carriage slowly rolled to a halt at the entrance to Alnwick as armed guards stepped in front of the wagon. They took a quick glance inside before a huge portcullis was raised. Only then was It allowed to move off. It took a turn to the right before dissapearing behind a couple of buildings, out of the view of any of the soldiers. It carried on for another hundred feet before it stopped in front of an old city tavern named The Lucky Hen. Then from out of the carriage stepped a middle aged woman with a man her age and a well-built, muscular guard who left them after they entered the pub. Inside was the merry sound of laughter and talking. There was a crackling fireplace on the left wall and the setting sun shon through the two windows on the wall through which they came in. The people walked up to the counter where a young bartender was chatting away to a small group of men off to one side. The Bartender wandered over to the pair. He had short cropped black hair and a piercing gaze. ”Anything to drink?” “Two root beers and some roast beef,” The woman replied. “Indeed, that will be 15 in silver please.” “Actually we are here to see the man upstairs I believe he goes by the name of Evarius Green” “Yes, well he is temporarily unavailable.” The woman pulled a small bundle of coins out of her purse and slammed it down on the counter. ”How about now!” She shouted. “ Follow me.” Replied the bartender ushering the lady. The bartender took them around the countertop to the right and led them into a stone corridor dimly lit by a few candles. He led them up a steep flight of steps before pointing to a door on the left. He then took the stairs back down and left the two people alone. The man stepped forward and knocked on the door. The door didn’t open so he knocked again this time a bit louder. A groan came from the inside anda faint sound of footsteps could be heard. A man opened the door just a crack and peered out.”Who are you?” He asked. “Let us in and you will find out the man replied.” The person opened the door a little wider and said “Tell me or you are not coming in. You understand?” “We are from the black dagger and have come to warn you of something important that will inevitably happen. So can we come in now?” “Aye come in.” Opening the door even wider the man turned his back away and walked throught the gloomy, small sitting room and into the kitchen which was located in the far left of the room. Once he entered the kitchen through a side door the woman threw her handbag onto an armchair and quickly took out two sheathed daggers. She swiftly attatched one to her belt and handed the other to the man. The room was empty, apart from the armchair, a small lamp in a corner and a window which was covered by curtains. “So you must be Jasmine and Taylor…” “Marbleheart” Taylor said who was nearing towards the kitchen door. Jasmine stripped her red dress and revealed a suit of leather armour underneath. She let out her derk chestnut hair and took out her dagger. Taylor too took out his and together they sprinted into the kitchen. The man cowered back into a corner as Taylor raised his hand getting ready to throw the knife. “Wait!” Jasmine said before Taylor coud throw the weapon. “You raise your hands.” She said to the man. He slowly raised his palms revealing a small black dagger inked into the skin of his left palm. She threw her knife into his chest and blood gushed out soaking her armour and the robes of Taylor. Taylor approached the man and stabbed him in the neck. Jasmine walked closer and watched the convulsing man on the floor rasp out two garbled words. “For Renko” He then shuddered and stopped moving, blood and foam flowing out of his mouth. Jasmine and Taylor pulled their daggers out of the corpse and wiped them on the uniform of the man. They then stepped into the living room and took for the window which behind the curtains was slightly ajar. Taylor pulled it all the way open and jumped the one floor down onto the cobbled streets where their carriage was waiting. Jasmine followed by example and too landed on the street a couple of feet away from him. The door of the carriage opened revealing the same muscular guard as before only this time he was wearing different robes, much more elegant than the last ones. Jasmine quickly slipped off her armour and this time put on a silk yellow dress. Taylor too took off his gray robes and put on a minlitary uniform belonging to the Eitrs the war lords in charge of protecting the city. Jasmine and Taylor both threw out their old clothes onto the street. The guard then knocked on one of the windows and the carriage slowly moved off leaving the apartament behind. It turned right and drove once again past the entrance to the tavern before taking a left to get to the same gate through which they had entered. In front of the gate each cart and carriage was being thoroughly searched. It took quite a while before Jasmine’s carriage got to the front the guards then asked all of them to get out and each was patted down by one of the officials. Then the guards entered the carriage and checked everywhere. It wasn’t long before they lifted up one of the benches and found two blood stained daggers underneath. Everyone on the carriage was lined up and their hands were bound. They were then led off into the gatehouse where each was thrown into an old, overgrown prison cell. Jasmine could see Taylor on the other side along with their guard and the driver. In turn each got beaten with a long whip that clasped around there stomach and ripped their skin. - - - The soldiers outside were preparing to send a messenger to the authority and Jasmine’s carriage was being pushed off the road by a couple of burly soldiers. When the carriage was moved off the road the rest of the traffic got through the gate. The messenger then sprinted off North towards Ironspire. Once the messenger got to the tower, the sun was gone behind the horizon and the moon was high in the sky. The tower was located several kilometres away from the gate house which he had been positioned he ran forwards towards the huge iron clad door. The guards there ran in front of him to try to stop him and he had to show his identification to get past. When he got inside, he looked around the marble floored reception and ran towards the doorway marked with a black dagger.
